new template

I'm using a new template.

Added an "edit" link to the leftBar again.

This will be in place of the cPanel link that appears when adding new entries.

I'm going home today after the UPAC meeting tonight... that's also after the block dinner they've setup.

Steak Side Dinner

Just ate at "Steak Side" with Jay-Reen. She took my prime rib, so i just settled for t-bone steak. It was nice... a bit overcooked but it tastes good.

I still haven't had any good sleep for a few days, i'm improving my templating scripts to automagically make an index file of the articles in a directory. It does what i expected, but it still has to accept more CGI input.

Next time, i'll use those scripts here, to test.

Two professors told me it's fine to make my SP an "Open Source Software for Operations Research Analysis". I'm gonna name it EMANS (Emans Mathematical Algorithms for Network Solutions)... hehe, another recursive name!

It'll be made up of modules that'll accept input from different front ends. Ofcourse, i still have to decide on or make my own file format, but that'll more/less be easy.

Date and File Libs Working

The library of subroutines for date and file works, now, all i have to do is add/use it. I'll do that during the vacation. Right now, i have to finish the assignment for AMAT 168.

End of the week

This is probably the last time i'm gonna surf this week.

I have no more cash at hand. But that's cool.

Just came from an appointment with BJ, it was nice, we talked about ourselves. Hehe... and wants me to be part of their "DG," i'm learning. I'm not a Christian, and now, i'm learning about their belief even more...

Wala lang.

Hehe... cut my hair, Now it looks more stupid than ever. Still can't contact Kacy, maybe i'll try later.

At last! there's an internet rental here in LB that has Linux! Insight Computers has MDK 9.1 installed in one of their desktops.

This is great, i'll go here everytime.

Anyway, i have a class at 12. Gotta finish what i'm doing.

My aunt just died. I'm posting a photo of her.

I'll edit it later

20031109

I did a quick edit on my site. Now it looks a bit nicer.

I still have to make a script for it, tho. I don't want to hand-code everything again, everytime i want to post something. But this will do for now.

Just came from SM Megamall to go to the Exhibit for Phil Products hosted by DTI. I took more than 240 shots, i think. I hope that'll suffice for MIP.

Anyway, while i was on my way home. I saw something made by The Cartwheel Foundation, it's an organization that aims to "bring education where it is needed most!" I like the idea, and told them i'd help 'em. Maybe i'll make them a site, or advertise theirs on different sites, but i'm glad i could help. Here's a photo of some of the people there.

A reply was posted at Linux Packages forum for My IP Masquerading problem.

Tommorrow, i'll meet with other MIP people @ 701 Herrera Tower around 6pm.

I'm going to UPLB later, but i haven't figured out howto connect the other pc to the net using this box as a gateway, but at least i got to the point where the other pc could recognize that this box has a connection.

20031104

Right now, i'm reading an IP-Masquerade-HOWTO.

This is to make the other boxes here connect to the internet through this Linux Box. I've tried it before, but i was stuck configuring LOTS of files to no avail... hope this time it works.

Kewl! I saw an explanation of private IP addresses. Anyway, back to the HOWTO.

Got to reboot my system to see if /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall-2.4 would be executed with all OK's.

After rebooting. I ran the tests for IP Masquerade, and all was fine 'til i get to 5.7. Testing internal MASQ client to external MASQ server connectivity on a 'MASQed Linux client,' and up to 5.8. Testing external MASQ ICMP forwarding. The ping's just timed-out on both.

I also found the Linux IP Masquerade Resource website, it uses a free Redirection service. I also signed up for it.

Haven't successfully implemented IP Masquerading, but at least my WinXP box recognizes that i have an external connection.

Vector Linux 4.0 is great! I've installed it on all three pc's here, and the only problem i had is the display with the laptop, but that was easily solved by replacing the XF86Config-4 files on vector with the XF86Config files of Slackware 9.0. Aside from the speed, and reliability of hardware recognition, the apps in the cd were also ok. I specifically liked xfsamba. Hwehwehwehwe, it's kewl!
I just made a robots.txt file for rimatmag. This is for the persistent problem with the forums, that is, whenever a reply w/c came from a google search is done, it ruins the links. This is just a temporary solution. I should re-code the whole forum script to solve this.
Just found the Fedora Project, sponsored by Redhat.

Just found a post at slashdot that promotes the Sacred Jihad Against Slashdot. It's also discussed in kuro5hin, another community-moderated site.

Vector Linux 4.0

Just installed Vector Linux 4.0. It's great!
The installation's a piece of cake. I wasn't prompted to specify my mount points, though. But that's no biggie.
When i rebooted the system, every app was set for me. Here are the programs:
audio player: xmms
text editor: vi, bluefish, nedit, & xedit
word processor: abiword
cd-writing software: xcdroast, cdrecord, etc
browser: Moz Firebird
email client: sylpheed
graphic viewer/editor: xv, gqview
file manager: xfe
IM client: GAIM
FTP client: gftp
Window Manager: icewm, xfce, fluxbox
...
I'm still exploring. But so far, it's great, fast. And this is just the free version.
Damn! I don't know what to do! Kacy doesn't even want to talk to me.

It's Oktoberfest!

Myrna invited me to go with them. She said they'll wait for me in front of EDSA Shangrila. I came, tho 15 minutes late. When i didn't see them, i went to see the event. What i saw surprised me. I can't even imagine being in there with hundreds of people. So i went back home.

When i told them that, they got mad. And now, they won't talk to me. This sucks!

I should've told them i won't come in the first place.

Just came from UP (University of the Philippines), the school i go to. Got my grades, two were higher than i expected, and one was lower than what i hoped for.
